Epoxy Flooring Division Team Lead
Position Summary
The Epoxy Flooring Division Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the epoxy flooring team, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves assisting with installation, guiding other flooring installers on your project, and maintaining equipment. You will coordinate with the flooring division leadership team (director, sales estimator, project manager and other team leads) and, on occasion, customers. Vast knowledge of different epoxy materials, surface preparation, mixing ratios, application techniques, and safety regulations is essential to succeed in this role. The Team Lead will apply this specialized knowledge to ensure customer satisfaction and smooth project deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership:

- Oversee daily project operation. Review project plans and delegate tasks as necessary to ensure highest quality of project execution
- Inventory and equipment management
- Maintain a proactive approach to problem-solving and provide on-site support to address any issues
Team Supervision and Development:

- Provide mentorship and training to team, focusing on epoxy application techniques, equipment handling, and quality assurance
- Foster a team-oriented work environment by promoting open communication and collaboration
Technical Expertise:

- Remove existing flooring (perform grinding, blasting, or sanding of concrete and other surfaces) to ensure proper adhesion of epoxy coatings
- Clean, repair, and patch surfaces, including crack filling and joint sealing
- Mix epoxy resins, hardeners, and pigments accurately, following manufacturer specifications
- Use squeegees, rollers and brushes to apply primers, base coats, epoxy and topcoats
- Apply decorative flakes, quartz, or other designs as needed
- Inspect completed floors for imperfections, bubbles, or uneven surfaces. Ensure floors meet quality standards
Safety and Compliance:

- Follow and enforce all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazardous management, and adherence to CCS and OSHA standards
Customer Interaction:

- In partnership with the Flooring Division Leadership Team, communicate with customers to provide timely updates on project progress and address any concerns during installation. May also offer guidance on maintenance and care of flooring to ensure long-term durability.
Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills:

- Knowledge of various epoxy types, resins, hardeners, and additives
- Ability to mix epoxy materials with precision to ensure consistency and quality
- Skilled in using application tools such as squeegees, trowels, and rollers
- Proficient in surface preparation techniques, such as grinding, sanding, and repairing cracks
- Understanding of moisture levels, temperature, and other environmental factors that affect epoxy curing

- Capable of identifying surface imperfections and applying appropriate corrective measures

- Ability to lift heavy equipment, stand, bend, and kneel for long periods, and work in various environments (indoor/outdoor, commercial, industrial, etc.).

- Ability to troubleshoot common issues such as poor adhesion, improper curing, material defects, uneven surfaces or complex project layouts
Communication and teamwork:

- Ability to collaborate with other team members and communicate effectively to project managers, estimator and customers

- Efficiently plan, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
Safety awareness:

- Familiarity with safety protocols when working with chemicals, power tools and heavy machinery
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards related to epoxy flooring installation
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual (English + Spanish)
Other Requirements
- Pass a pre- employment drug screening
- Required to pass a background check
- Have reliable transportation; driving record that is insurable
- Show proof of citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S.

- Required to work 45 hours per week during the peak season
- Required to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- Required to attend all safety and training seminars (Monday morning meeting is mandatory)
